Re: EMTF Hybrid Morning Speaker Series
September 3rd, 2025, 7:00am
Hybrid Presentation, 7:30am
Glenn will present a summary of global climate litigation and its connection to our energy future here in Saskatchewan and beyond.
Glenn Wright - is a lawyer, engineer, grain farmer, and lifelong resident of Saskatchewan.
Glenn studied engineering and law at the University of Saskatchewan and articled with Bill Wardell, K.C., he was called to the bar in 2021. He worked for nearly 20 years in resource extraction as a mechanical engineer, beginning his career working for Husky Oil in SK/AB in the 1990s but he spent the bulk of his engineering career working at uranium mills in northern Saskatchewan. Glenn shifted his focus to law to actively advocate for the environment and issues of social justice.
Glenn is an active member of the National Farmers Union, Climate Justice Saskatoon, the Saskatchewan Association for Environmental Law, and the Saskatchewan Coalition for Sustainable Development. Glenn is a former director of SaskEV, the Saskatchewan Environmental Society, and SaskBarley.
Glenn lives with his wife on a farm near Vanscoy, SK. He practices regenerative agriculture techniques on his farm and has been striving to reduce the emissions intensity of grain grown on the farm by incorporating minimum input, minimum tillage, intercropping, and green cover farming practices. Glenn first installed renewable energy on the farm in 2008 and he and his family have been driving EVs since 2018. Glenn also completed a home insulation retrofit in 2018 and turned off his natural gas to the farm in 2008, electing to heat with geothermal energy since then. Glenn estimates that their family and farm emissions have been reduced by more than 50% compared to 2006.
He passionately advocates for a sustainable economy, equality, and strengthening our democracy. Glenn has run as a candidate in numerous provincial and federal elections and is committed to reconciliation and actively defends human rights related to equality.
